Fine Grained Vehicle Analytics System

Fine-grained classification can be defined as object classification at the subordinate level which focuses on differentiating instances from the same basic level categories such as classifying hundreds of subcategories of birds, flowers, aircrafts, and cars. The objects are visually similar but sharing a common part structure. The fine-grained image classification is generally more complex and challenging than general image classification. This project is aimed to develop a platform with a set of machine learning algorithms to facilitate fine-grained vehicle classification. The vehicle of interest for this project is car. The platform is expected to be able to analyze a video stream and detecting different type of cars.
